To commemorate Denis Villeneuve‘s impactful cinematography in the Dune trilogy, “May thy knife chip and shatter” combines the most memorable elements of the films into one ceramic sculpture. 

Taking inspiration from the desert landscape and brutalistic architecture, various textures were sculpted and engraved into the crank-stoneware to mimic the rhythmic footprints, rocky hills, and remnants of sandstorms.

Every strand of the sandworm’s mouth was painstakingly hand-rolled and carefully attached. The sculpture is also airbrushed with various oxides and speckles of stoneware glaze, subtly bringing the brutality of the desert to life.
